Our Quality Difference

For 40 years, we have been obsessed with quality at Nature Made®. From ingredient sourcing, to industry-leading manufacturing practices, to our third-party verification approach, we believe it is our responsibility to lead in delivering quality products and a quality consumer experience.

This commitment to quality is critical because each year Nature Made produces more than 150 kinds of supplements, filling 120 million bottles with 11.5 billion tablets, capsules, and softgels. It is a responsibility we embrace. We have often been part of pushing the supplement industry forward, and setting the standards that become the model for industry-wide regulation.

As part of a commitment to quality, Nature Made has a strict quality control process for responsible manufacturing. In addition, we invest millions of dollars in new technologies and follow rigorous production processes to ensure the superior quality we promise to our customers. This commitment to quality relies on three foundational elements:

Sourcing
The path to quality products at Nature Made starts well before reaching our manufacturing centers. We work with the highest quality suppliers, and we ensure the quality levels of each new supplier via audits conducted by ourselves or experts we select. This ensures that our suppliers have clean, compliant facilities that follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Throughout the sourcing process we require our suppliers to show a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for the identity and quality of the ingredients they provide us.

Our Process
From the moment ingredients reach our US-based manufacturing facilities, we are dedicated to some of the most demanding safety and quality standards in the industry. Every step of our product development process is focused on delivering the highest quality dietary supplements possible. When ingredients arrive, they are tested for identity, and we continue verification at every stage of the manufacturing process to ensure we meet or exceed industry standards — using techniques like infrared scanning, high performance liquid chromatography and mass spectrophotometry. As ingredients are weighed, blended, compressed, encapsulated, inspected and finally packaged as different vitamin products, we test or inspect appropriately to ensure quality.

USP Verified

The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) is a scientific, nonprofit organization that sets federally recognized public standards of quality for medicines, dietary supplements, and foods. USP has been establishing standards since 1820, and today USP standards are used by manufacturers and regulators in more than 140 countries. While others may provide testing and quality seals, USP is the only standards-setting organization recognized in U.S. federal law that offers third-party verification.

Only those products that meet USP's stringent criteria are permitted to display the USP Verified Mark on their label. The USP Verified Mark on Nature Made products tells you that they have been independently verified for quality and:
  • Contain the ingredients listed on the label, in the declared potency and amounts;
  • Do not contain harmful levels of specified contaminants;
  • Will break down and release into the body within a specified amount of time; and
  • Have been made according to FDA current Good Manufacturing Practices using sanitary and well-controlled procedures.

Nature Made was the first national vitamin brand to earn USP Verification on many of its products and is the national vitamin brand with the most products carrying the USP Dietary Supplement Verified Mark. Many Nature Made products currently hold the USP Verified Mark, and we are committed to increasing the number of products reviewed and verified by USP in the future.

At Nature Made, we're committed to quality. That's why we work with USP, an independent organization that tests for quality and purity. The Nature Made difference is easy to see – just look for the USP Verified Mark on the label of our products.

When it comes to choosing a vitamin, pharmacists know best.

While many people turn to their pharmacist for advice about prescription medications, only one in five customers asks their pharmacist questions about vitamins and supplements, according to a recent Nature Made-sponsored survey.

Pharmacists, however, are a wealth of information about over-the-counter products.

"I guide customers through various health-related questions and always recommend quality vitamins as a key part of their daily routine," says Jim Morelli, a licensed pharmacist and national health reporter. He continues, "It's best to consult your personal pharmacist a few times a year to ensure you are taking the right amount and type of vitamins."

With dozens of vitamin and supplement choices out there, it's good to know that free, expert help is available, right behind the pharmacy counter.
